ABOUT US

Drotlor Plant was founded in 1972 by its current owner Brendon O'Reilly. From its humble beginnings when Brendon's only items of plant were a Drott and Lorry (hence the name) the company has flourished into one of the Midlands largest in operated heavy plant.
Its current plant holding comprises of both Volvo A25 and A30 articulated dump trucks, Caterpillar D6 standard and L.G.P. Dozers, D8 and D9 dozers/rippers, Caterpillar Graders, a variety of compaction equipment, water bowsers, mobile fuel bowsers and bunded static fuel bowsers.
With such an extensive fleet of equipment Drotlor Plant has been able to undertake all aspects of earthmoving which includes;
Land Reclamation
Landscaping
Creation of Nature Reserves
Flood Protection
Quarrying
Rural and Urban Highways Projects
Drotlor Plant services are provided from its purpose-built offices and plant yard in Tamworth, Staffordshire.
Quarrying Works
This is undoubtably Drotlor Plants' core business activity. Working closely with both aggregate suppliers and brick manufacturers the work entails the excavation and storage of top-soils, subsoils, overburden mineral and clays in accordance with M.A.F.F. guidelines.
To enable the quarry operator’s excavation activities to be cost effective, we generally carry them out in conjunction with their restoration programmes.
Working jointly with the companies Landscape Architects and the Environmental Agency we have restored previous mineral workings to arable land, nature reserves, a water sports centre and football pitches for a Premier division club.
As a result of our proven experience in winning, stockpiling and blending clays, we now undertake long term contracts with major brick manufacturers.
Landfill Construction Services
Drotlor Plant carried out the earthworks and leachate drainage works for the first ever landfill site to commercially generate electricity from the methane gas produced by biodegradation of waste. At the time the project was thought to be so innovative it was featured on 'Tomorrows World'.
Since then Drotlor Plant has carried numerous contracts for the country’s leading waste management companies. The work has been primarily the construction of landfill cells, including the provision of the mineral liner from site won materials and engineered' to achieve the requirements of the specification together with the installation of leachate drains. In addition, we have also carried out the capping operation of landfill sites with both sites won and imported materials including the laying of the geosynthetic clay liner.

Highway Construction Works
Drotlor Plant from the early 80's and through the 90's has been employed by several major civil engineering contractors to carry out and complete a variety of highway schemes in the Midlands area.
Apart from carrying out the general cut / fill and re-soiling operations we also undertook the laying of both the capping layer and sub-base. Drotlor Plant completed the earthworks on highway projects which include:
